Park Rangers -- Ranger Employment

For consideration as a part-time Ranger with the Hamilton County Park District Ranger Department, applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:

• Basic Peace Officer Certification from Ohio or currently enrolled in the Ohio Basic Peace Officer Training Academy.
• Minimum 21 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license.
• No felony convictions.

And successfully complete the following if accepted for consideration:

• Oral interview.
• Background investigation.
• Fitness assessment.
• Medical examination (at applicant’s expense).
• Voice stress analysis.
• Psychological examination.

Qualified candidates are evaluated for employment as a full-time Ranger through a competitive testing process. This process is advertised in local newspapers and other publications and conducted annually. Any person who has submitted an application for full-time is notified of the process. To be eligible to participate in the testing process, candidates must possess the following qualifications:

• Basic Peace Officer Certification from Ohio or currently enrolled in the Ohio Basic Peace Officer Training Academy.
• Minimum age of 21 years.
• Associates degree or three years law enforcement experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• No felony convictions.

Top scoring candidates on the written examination must successfully complete the following tests prior to consideration for a full-time position:

• Oral interview.
• Background investigation.
• Fitness assessment.
• Medical examination (at applicant’s expense).
• Voice stress analysis.
• Psychological examination.
