For consideration as a part-time Ranger with the Hamilton County Park District Ranger Department, applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Basic Peace Officer Certification from Ohio or currently enrolled in the Ohio Basic Peace Officer Training Academy.
- Minimum 21 years of age.
- Valid driver’s license.
- No felony convictions.
And successfully complete the following if accepted for consideration:
- Oral interview.
- Background investigation.
- Fitness assessment.
- Medical examination (at applicant’s expense).
- Voice stress analysis.
- Psychological examination.
Qualified candidates are evaluated for employment as a full-time Ranger through a competitive testing process. This process is advertised in local newspapers and other publications and conducted annually. Any person who has submitted an application for full-time is notified of the process. To be eligible to participate in the testing process, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
- Basic Peace Officer Certification from Ohio or currently enrolled in the Ohio Basic Peace Officer Training Academy.
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- Associates degree or three years law enforcement experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- No felony convictions.
Top scoring candidates on the written examination must successfully complete the following tests prior to consideration for a full-time position:
- Oral interview.
- Background investigation.
- Fitness assessment.
- Medical examination (at applicant’s expense).
- Voice stress analysis.
- Psychological examination.
