Sharon Woods Golf Course is truly a classic course, opened by renowned golfer Bobby Jones in 1938.

Voted Best Golf Course in 2022 & 2023 by Cincinnati.com 

The oldest of the six golf courses operated by Great Parks of Hamilton County, Sharon Woods Golf Course has stood the test of time. Opened by legendary golfer Bobby Jones in 1938, the offers something for everyone, including beginner 6-hole leagues, outings, instructional programs, family events, and competitions. 

Known for being a tough test of golf, the layout features holes where birdies can be made, as well as holes that will test everything you have to make par. 

After your round, you can relax with a cold drink and a sandwich in the clubhouse or on the patio area that overlooks the #7 and #9 holes. 

Whether you want to see if your game is up to the challenge or you just want to relax and play with family or friends, Sharon Woods is the place for you!

Golf Course Guidelines for play

Tee times can be made up to 10 days in advance either online at greatparks.org or by calling the golf course. Groups of less than four may be paired together.

Players must check in within 10-15 minutes prior to their starting time or risk forfeiting that time. 

Play is for 9 or 18 holes, riding or walking. Two riders per cart; single rider requests may incur an additional charge during select times. Push carts are available.

Alcohol must be purchased from the facility. Carry-on alcoholic beverages are not permitted. Coolers are permitted for non-alcoholic beverages.

  • About the Course

    Sharon Woods is a par 70, playing to 6,633 yards from the back tees. With six sets of tees, players of all levels can enjoy the classic layout designed by William Diddle. Built on rolling terrain, players will need every club in the bag. The par 4 #3 has often been referred to as the toughest hole in the city, and the par 3 #8 features a majestic view as your ball travels downhill to the waiting green.

    Note: All course fees are per person. Senior rates apply to those 60 and older and are available Monday-Thursday (excluding holidays, league play, outings and tournaments.) Junior rates (17 and younger) are available Monday-Thursday and during select times on weekends.

  • Golf Professionals

    Mike Thomas, PGA General Manager  Mike was elected to PGA membership in August 2008. From 1999 until 2002 he was on the maintenance crew at The Vineyard, learning much of the strategies involved in maintaining great playing conditions throughout the year. In the spring of 2003, he turned professional and has worked as an Assistant Golf Professional ever since. Playing is a passion for Mike, and he participates in over 25 tournaments per year.

    As an instructor, Mike carries a philosophy and approach to teaching that makes students feel comfortable and at ease throughout the process. He works in concert with the other professionals at Sharon Woods to ensure that students of all playing levels have many options for scheduling lesson times and developing a lesson plan that is tailored specifically to their game.

    Taylor Suggs, PGA, Clubhouse Manager/Head Professional Taylor worked as an Assistant Professional at both Clovernook Country Club (2017-2019) and Hyde Park Golf & Country Club (2019-2022). He joined the staff at Sharon Woods in the spring of 2022. Taylor received an Associate’s Degree in Turfgrass Management from Cincinnati State in 2015, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies from Cincinnati Christian University in 2017. He competed competitively at both colleges, won an Individual and Team National Championship with Cincinnati State in 2015, and received All-American honors all 4 years of his collegiate career. Taylor has continued his competitive schedule since turning pro in 2017 by competing in local and national PGA club professional events.

    Taylor’s teaching philosophy centers around transferring the information and skills learned, to on course success and improvement. While his technical knowledge of the golf swing and short game is extensive, Taylor encourages his students to use course-management and fundamental technical skills in unison to reach their potential.

    Scott Sides, Assistant Golf Professional Scott has worked at Sharon Woods as an Assistant Golf Professional since switching careers in the summer of 2022. He is currently on path to PGA membership through the Professional Golf Management (PGM) program. Scott aims to combine his industry experience with golfing knowledge to teach with simple and relatable instruction. He holds degrees from both Clemson University and University of Cincinnati. Prior to entering the golf business, he worked for a decade in commercial real estate.

    The 18 Hole Ladies League is for league members only. If you are interested in joining the league, please email Taylor Suggs at tsuggs@greatparks.org

    The Six-hole Instructional League is a four-week league led by PGA professionals in a fun, non-intimidating atmosphere. Open to men and women with little to no experience on the golf course.

  • Lessons

    All six Great Parks courses offer lessons given by PGA Professionals - a must for anyone desiring to learn the game of golf! Students will learn the fundamentals of golf, including swing techniques for a variety of shots, course management, rules and etiquette.


    Adult Lessons

    The golf professionals at Sharon Woods offer a variety of lesson programs for golfers of all experience and ability. Beginner and Intermediate group lessons help novice golfers gain the confidence and skills needed to become course ready. Please refer to the lesson programs for the course of your choice for dates and times.

    Private Lessons

    Private one-hour lessons for the beginner offer a personalized way of learning the proper fundamentals of the swing, techniques for various shot and information on how to play the game. For the more experienced player, our PGA professionals will analyze your swing, focusing on problem areas and demonstrating techniques to improve all aspects of your game. Playing lessons are conducted on the golf course, focusing on course management, rules etiquette, care of the course, club selection and shot selection.   • Outings

    Let Sharon Woods host your golf event and leave the details to us! Your group will experience a great golf course, exceptional service and a great time had by all. To inquire about availability please call the pro shop at 513-769-4325 or email PGA Professional Taylor Suggs at tsuggs@greatparks.org. To secure a date, a contract will be sent to you to be signed and returned with a deposit of $100. Fourteen days prior to your event, final reservations and payment will be due. Outing packages include greens fees and cart fees, prize credit, hole contest setup, handicap and scoring calculation and any other assistance we may provide to ensure your day is an enjoyable one.

    Kids Play Free

    During select times Saturdays and Sundays kids under the age of 18 play for free when accompanied by a paying parent, grandparent or legal guardian. Limit one child per paying parent.

  • Tournaments

    Sharon Woods Golf Course hosts a variety of tournaments, including the Family Scramble, The Sharon Woods Club Championship and the Father/Son tournament.M
