Hamilton County Park District Campground Rules
Refund Policy – Refunds due to inclement weather will not be issued. Reservations will be rescheduled during the current year if canceled at least 48 hours prior to the arrival date.
Check-in time – 2:00pm
Miami Whitewater Forest – Campers at Miami Whitewater Forest must stop at the boathouse before entering the campground.
Winton Woods – Campers at Winton Woods must stop at the Camp Office before entering the campground. When the Camp Office is closed for the season, check the information board for further details.
Check-out time – 2:00pm for Winton campsites, 12:00pm for cabins and Miami Whitewater campsites – Campers must vacate their site by the stated time on the last day printed on their site form. Campers must notify the attendant of any difficulty in vacating their site by the specified check-out time. Failure to comply may result in impoundment of equipment!
Park District By-laws – All Park District By-laws and regulations apply to the campground area. Park District Rangers may terminate upon just cause any occupancy at any time with no refund. Non-compliance with these rules will be considered just cause to terminate occupancy.
Occupancy limit – Occupancy at Miami Whitewater Forest and Winton Woods Campgrounds is limited to no more than 14 days in a 30-day period. No exceptions to this policy will be made. These campgrounds are intended for recreational purposes only and are not to be used as a place of temporary residence.
Motor Vehicles – Motor vehicles operated within the campground must display a valid motor vehicle permit. Permits are available at the Camp Office or from a Park Ranger. Motor vehicle operation within the campground is restricted to transportation to and from campsites only. The 5 MPH speed limit is strictly enforced. Please refrain from entering or leaving the campground after11:00pm except in an emergency. Only two motor vehicles are permitted per campsite. All motor vehicles must be parked on the surfaced pad at all times and must display a parking permit. The parking area next to the shower building is for use of that building only and is limited to 30 minutes.
Visitor Policy – During the camping season, March through mid-November, visitors are permitted subject to the following rules: a) Visiting hours are 9:00am to 11:00pm from Memorial Day weekend though Labor Day weekend and 9:00am to 10:00pm all other times of the year. b) Parking remains limited to two vehicles per campsite. Additional vehicles at Winton Woods Campground only, may park in the visitor lot providing space is available, for a fee of $2.50 / car. c) Campers are responsible for their visitor’s actions and compliance with the campground rules. d) Loud or unruly behavior may result in visitors being asked to leave w/o a refund of parking fees. Note: Because of the site size restrictions, large groups should arrange to meet at an alternate location
Number and age of campers – A campsite may not be occupied by more than 6 people. At least one camper at each site must be a responsible adult (18 yrs. or older for campsites, 21 yrs. or older for cabins) who assumes responsibility for all campers’ actions on their site and should remain with campers at all times.
Camping Equipment – Campers are limited to one camping unit per campsite plus one additional tent and one dining fly. A camping unit is defined as either a trailer, tent or vehicle camper. Camping in cars is not permitted. A camping unit must be present on the rented site. Trailers and vehicle campers must remain on the surfaced pad. Large trailers may reduce the number of cars permitted on your site. Tents and single-axle pop-up trailers are permitted on the grass areas.
Quiet hours – Quiet hours are as follows – Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend – 11:00pm to 9:00am and 10:00pm to 9:00am all other times of the year. Remember, if you or your group can be heard on an adjacent campsite, then your group is too loud.
Fires – Fires are permitted only in fire rings or in camper’s grills placed adjacent to the fire ring. Do not cut any wood, even dead wood. Do not burn any materials that will emit excessive amounts of sparks. Do not leave your fire unattended. Be sure that your fire is completely extinguished before leaving the campground. Firewood is available for a fee from the attendant. The emergency fire extinguisher is located on the outside of the shower building.
Picnic tables – One table is provided per site. Tables are not to be removed from the site.
Sewage dump station – To be used for sewage disposal only. Please stay with your trailer at all times until servicing is completed and remove your camper from the dump station area immediately afterwards. Use the hose to flush down the concrete apron after use.
Clean-up – Campers must maintain a clean campsite. All refuse and garbage must be placed in the dumpster. Do not burn garbage or refuse. Vacated sites requiring clean-up by Park District staff may be assessed a $5.00 minimum clean-up fee.
Pets – Pets are permitted only if kept on a leash and under control at all times. Barking dogs will not be tolerated. Pet owners must clean up after their animals. Owners may be asked to remove dogs from the site at the Park District’s discretion. Limit two pets per site.
Conservation – The Hamilton County Park District devotes its highest priority to the conservation of its natural areas. Accordingly, cutting or chopping of tree limbs and vegetation, collecting of natural material, or molesting of birds and wildlife is strictly prohibited. Feeding of wildlife is strongly discouraged. Regular feeding can cause dependency on people for food, loss of survival instincts, animal / people conflicts and spread of disease.
Fishing – Bank fishing is permitted in designated areas for registered campers. At Winton Woods, campers who have rented lake-side sites in the “B” loop may bank fish behind their site. A bank fishing area is provided between sites 47 and 50 for all other campers. Fishing is prohibited after dark. Swimming is not permitted in any of the Park District lakes.
Boating – Registered campers at Winton Woods are permitted to launch their private canoes or kayaks at the ramp area located between sites 47 and 50. Canoes and kayaks must be licensed and all Ohio Watercraft laws apply. Kayak spray skirts are not permitted. Please register your canoe or kayak at the camp office upon check-in.
Laundry Room – Washers and dryers are located in the laundry room at the rear of the shower building at Winton Woods Campground. The laundry room is locked at 11:00pm.
Emergencies – To contact a Ranger for emergency assistance, dial 911. For non-emergency assistance dial 825-2280. There is a public telephone located on the outside of the restroom building at both Winton Woods and Miami Whitewater Forest Campgrounds. Park Rangers patrol the campground 24 hours a day.
Electric and full-hookup sites – If you camp on a site with electric or full-hookup utilities, you must pay that rate. Each electric site has its own breaker box with 110 service. All electric cords must remain on your campsite. Electric bug zappers are not permitted.
