Fishing -- Tournaments Rules

Fishing and Boating Regulations
All Hamilton County Park District and Ohio State fishing and boating regulations apply.

Participation
Teams consist of two people. One person may fish alone. You must participate in the tournament to earn the qualifying points. (Bass Series)

Pre-tournament Practice
On the date of the tournament, participants are not permitted on the lake prior to the start of the tournament. All fish must be caught during the tournament hours.

Tackle Equipment
All fish must be caught live and in a conventional manner. Live, artificial and prepared baits are permitted in most tournaments. Artificial baits only are permitted in the Bass tournaments. Each individual is allowed up to two lines in the water. Anglers are only permitted to use one pole at a time during the Bass tournaments.

Permitted Fishing Locations
Participants are not permitted to cast lines or take boats into designated wildlife sanctuaries. All angling must be done from a Park District rental boat.

Scoring
Tournament winners will be determined by pound and ounces of each team(s) catch during the tournament. There will be an 8 fish limit for bass and trout. Bass caught in all tournaments must be alive and measure a minimum of 12 inches, with their mouth closed on a Golden Rule. A one-pound penalty will be assessed for each short fish presented for weigh-in.

Don't Kill Your Catch
All fish will be released after weigh-in. Stringers are prohibited in all tournaments. Dead bass will not be weighed.

Late Penalty
You must be out of your boat and on the dock by the designated finish time in order to weigh your catch. Teams that are late are not eligible for prizes or qualifying points.

Sportsmanship
Competitors in tournaments are expected to follow the highest standards of sportsmanship, courtesy, safety and conservation. Maximum courtesy must be practiced at all times with regard to boating and angling in the vicinity of other fishermen. Any acts of a competitor, which reflect unfavorably upon the effort to promote fisheries conservation, clean waters and courtesy, shall be reason for immediate disqualification and possible ineligibility to participate in future tournaments.

Rules Interpretation
Interpretation of these rules shall be left exclusively to the Tournament Director at each event. The decisions of the Tournament Director will be final in all matters.
