Little Miami Golf Center - Jr. Golf League

Our 2008 Junior League at Little Miami Golf Center offers three different divisions to accommodate golfers ages 7-17. The main goals for our league are to have fun, develop golf skills, and enjoy friendly competition with players of similar ages and ability. Each division in the league will have five separate events and players will also earn points toward a Player of the year award.

Little Linkers
The Little Linkers are comprised of golfers ages 7-9. This division is intended to introduce youngsters to playing on the golf course and keeping score. Each event will be played over 3-5 holes on the Par 3 Course and the emphasis will be placed on learning and having fun. Players in this division should have an adult willing to walk along with the player’s group.

Young Tigers
The Young Tigers will be a nine-holes division for golfers ages 10-14 and will consist of two separate flights. Golfers may elect to play in either the Par 3 Course Flight or the Regulation Course Flight depending on their abilities. This division is intended for golfers that are learning to play and would like to compete in low pressure environment. Handicaps will be used to determine gross and net winners.

Tour Division
The Tour Division will play 18 holes and is for golfers aged 12-17. This division is intended for more serious golfers that want to learn about competition in tournaments and should also be good experience for golfers wanting to play on school teams. Handicaps will be used to determine net winners as well as gross winners for each event.

What Else You Need To Know
Players must register for each individual league event – Entry fee is $12 per event for Young Tigers and Tour Division, $5 per event for Little Linkers Division

The deadline for each event will be seven days prior to the event and will be strictly enforced. This will enable us to make pairings for the event, order the appropriate number of trophies/prizes, and prepare lunches.

The pairings and starting times will be assigned by the Golf professional and should be available at least five days before the event. Starting times will generally be between 11:00 and 3:00 depending upon the number of players.

Handicaps – Every player in the Young Tigers – Regulation and Tour Divisions will be entered into the USGA Handicap service and the scores for the league events will be posted. To establish a handicap, five 18-hole or 10 nine-hole scores are needed. Since most players will not have an established handicap before the events, we will use the Peoria handicap system to determine the “net” winners. The Peoria system establishes a handicap for the player based upon the scores made on certain holes during the round.
