MAKING THE MOST OF YOUR LESSON “INVESTMENT”!

ACCURATELY ASSESS YOUR GOALS: LONG AND SHORT TERM

    • If you are beginner, focus on mastering the fundamentals of the pre-swing, the in-swing, and the finish. If you are seasoned player, focus on improving areas that cause you to lose shots week-in and week- out.

SELECT A TEACHER TO MATCH YOU AND YOUR NEEDS

    • A tour-level instructor might be great for Tiger Woods, but will he or she make you a better golfer? Ask your friends about their lesson experiences, visit facilities that promote introductory or free programs to get a feel for the instructors, and/or call the Head PGA Professional to find out about the members of his Teaching Staff.

COME EARLY

    • For a One Hour Lesson plan on 2 hours out of your day! Arrive early enough to properly stretch, to warm up, and to hit a few balls. The quality of the warm up is more important than the quantity of the balls that you hit before the lesson!

COME PREPARED

    • Once you have selected your instructor, come prepared with your questions and all of your equipment. Be prepared to answer questions about your hopes and aspirations for improvement. Be prepared to give your playing history, a history of your athletic exposure to other sports, limiting physical conditions, and your commitment/timetable for reaching your goals.

DURING THE LESSON

    • Ask questions and listen to the answers! If you don’t understand the instructor and/or the terminology ask for more explanation. Demand success…..every lesson must have some! Expect small steps leading to sustained improvement.

AT THE END OF LESSON

    • Expect feedback from the instructor. Let the teacher know what you have learned. Ask about drills, practice assignments, and playing between lessons.
    • Schedule the next lesson knowing you will come loaded with questions and experiences that will lead to progress.

DO ALL OF THIS, AND I PROMISE YOU YOUR INVESTMENT IN LESSONS WILL PAY OFF
